Me (Sheel) and the entire CEREV crew are currently working on taking CEREV into a different direction. You will still recieve the blog posts that you all know and love, but through a new medium. All of us have matured as writers and thinkers (we think ) and are hoping that the next level will blow you away. We are hoping by the summer of 2009, we will be able to launch our new direction. Until then, our original posts (unedited) will remain on this site for your enjoyment.

Also, Zack has begun video blogging! Check out his hilarious (and often disturbing) videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/ZackDoesCommando.

This post is going to look a little different from our previous posts. If you happened to check the dates on the last article that was posted on the site, you’ll realize it was written a LONG time ago. Unfortunately, school has started for most of us, as three of our writers are now off to college and the rest are completing high school. Also, I (Sheel) did a lot of the graphic art around the site but now in college, I recently recieved a new laptop which conveniently does not have Adobe Photoshop. Now what does this mean to you, the loyal readers, and CEREV itself. Well, it means we have to take a break and settle down. Many of us have tons of ideas to blog about, but unfortunately do not have the time to complete them to the best of our ability. When will we be back? Hopefully sooner rather than later. I’m hoping by the end of October to be posting at least one to two articles a month. After that we will see how our original pacing of nearly three a month will work. I will be posting updates about CEREV and our lives as well as the days go on. Here are the updates as of now:

I (Sheel) am currently attending college in Ohio. My current major is Computer Engineering (not declared though, so its not final) and I am sticking by CEREV till death do us apart.

Travis is currently attending college in South Carolina. He’s lately been obsessed with the TV show “Chuck” (which is pretty good I must say) and is currently an undecided major. His ultimate goal in life is to become a successful stage, film, and television actor.

Marcus is attending school in California, and currently is playing Call of Duty 4 for Team HoS and playing Priston Tale for unknown reasons (seriously, that game blows).

Bob has disappeared off the face of the earth and I have not spoken to him in months. My guess is that he’s still in school in Wisconsin.

Josh is attending college in South Carolina. He considers himself to be the best Magic the Card Game player in the world and is currently working on his five year plan.

Zack is attending school in South Carolina, still loves his microwaves, and hates mondays.

It’s the most anticipated event of the year. Gamers everywhere are being glued to their televisions watching G4, people are buying into every pre-E3 magazine, and gaming websites are in a frantic, non-stop coverage frenzy for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). It’s the only time of the year when I become an out-closet nerd. To the point where I’m almost giddy. This year’s E3 is no slouch, at least from the Microsoft Booth. Having both a PC and an Xbox 360, I’ll be talking about what Microsoft is putting out for their two powerhouses. This fall, the bulk of my earnings will likely be on Microsoft points for XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade). I’ll rank the reasons why.

1. Mega Man 9. It’s been almost a decade since a true Mega Man game has come to the masses. Capcom has a nasty habit of not listening to fans of the blue bomber and putting out the same old crappy games every year with little to no change to each iteration (for example, The Battle Network Series). Capcom finally responds with what I think will be the greatest Mega Man ever made. Built from the ground up with new levels and bosses. This is no rehash here. It takes the old NES 8-bit approach to appeal to the hardcore classic fans. And since its coming to the Xbox 360, it’ll be in beautiful 8-bit HD. And I hear that just like the old NES games, the game will be very challenging.

2. Banjo-Kazooie. A remake of the classic platformer for the Nintendo 64. This game helped define Rare Inc. into what they are today. The graphics will be updated and in HD, plus achievements. This one is not to be missed. Banjo-Tooie’s release is inevitable.

3. Portal: Still Alive. Portal was a ground breaking game. Portal 2 won’t be out until mid 2009. Valve is still considering this game as a true sequel however. With more levels and a new challenge mode, this will likely be in the top sellers section after its highly anticipated debut.

4. Goldeneye 007. Another Nintendo 64 classic by Rare Inc. This game changed first person shooters forever. Originally released in 1999, this game is going to need a major graphical update. Today the visuals appear ugly. And online play is definitely a possibility. I can’t wait to see how this one turns out.

5. Galaga Legions. It’s Galaga. Classic top-down shooter revived, in HD. It’s beautiful, it’s insanely hard, and it rounds out my top 5.

I’m going to talk about a game that’s actually being done right. Everything about it excites me and makes me wish summer would end and fall would come sooner. To me, this game stuck out more than the rest. It even caught my attention more than Gears of War 2. I’ll get to that game and more in another post. The game I’m about to over hype is Far Cry 2. Yes, the game that not many people have been paying much attention to. And now a hopefully brief history on the franchise that everyone thought went down to hell.

-In 2004 Far Cry was released on PCs. Although it was a great game for its time, it was overshadowed by the simultaneous releases of the critically acclaimed Half Life 2, and Doom 3. Despite this, Far Cry was considered the first true next generation shooter. Boasting advanced A.I. and open world gameplay.

-In 2005 Far Cry Instincts came to the Xbox as an exclusive. It was an enhanced remake of the original. It kept the characters and basic plot points, but gave the playable main character, Jack Carver, new mutant feral abilities to unleash on his foes. The game was well received by critics and was considered one of the best shooters for the original Xbox.

-In 2006 Far Cry Evolution, the only sequel to Far Cry Instincts hits store shelves. The game was praised for gameplay, but got a noticeably lower review than its predecessor because it was more of the same and didn’t introduce anything new. Around the same time, Far Cry Instincts Predator was released on the Xbox 360. It had both Instincts and Evolution in a 2 games in 1 package for a great price. Both games were enhanced for widescreen HDTV play and ingame achievements. Otherwise there isn’t much difference to the originals.

-Sometime between 2006 and 2007, Uwe Boll, a mediocre movie maker who buys the rights to adapt video games into horribly produced movies. When news got around that Uwe Boll was coming out with a Far Cry movie sometime in ’08 and ’09, everyone just knew that Far Cry was going to be one of those games that started great and ended with a whimper.

-In 2007 Wii owners got a bad taste of the franchise with Far Cry Vengeance. It got horrible reviews for bad graphics and being virtually unplayable with the Wii’s cheap motion controls.

And now Far Cry 2 has come out of nowhere. The new game may have Far Cry in the title, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the original games. The island paradise setting, Jack Carver, and the strange mutant parts of the series have been completely removed. This new game is set in Africa. With over 50 kilometers of open ended play. Instead of just one annoying main character there are about 9 playable characters each with their own unique story. The game world is entirely open ended, like Grand Theft Auto. This game is entirely non-linear. You can play the game anyway you want, literally. You can choose to set fire to a village with a rocket or grenade, causing the enemy troops to back off allowing the player to flank them from behind. That’s just one of the 5 ways to play the game.

Another part of the gameplay that is new is the weather system. It stays sunny and dry if the player is doing well. Or it goes to a dark, rainy setting if the player isn’t doing too hot. The game has 3 types of explosives, and 30 different weapons. On a graphical note this game is the most beautiful shooter I have ever seen. This even beats out Crysis. Honestly, it looks as good, if not better, than real life. Blowing up stuff is fun; this game makes it look like an art. The minimum specs for the game to run on a pc have yet to be released. Don’t be surprised if you have to completely upgrade your rig just to start the game up.

Ubisoft is being tight lipped about the multiplayer aspect, but they say it’s going to be intense, and it will have the best map editor ever. I could go on and on. But I’ll save the rest for another time. This game is my #1 best in show, period. Look for it this fall on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Hey there!!! It’s Marcus here, in his first ever blog post on this web site. I’m going to make some people rage quit (when players get so angry that they exit out of the game). It’s easy to make people rage quit especially when talking about Call of Duty 4. I’ve only played Call of Duty 4 for the PC for about a week I’ve already seen a lot and played quite a bit. However, the big thing that stands out is how bad kids are. Now I’m not one to talk but I have a pretty good idea what I’m talking about. There are a lot of people in public servers that has run around with really bad perks. Now you might be wondering what perks are. Perks are a kind of like add-ons that help you do certain things in the game. One example is a perk is called juggernaut, which gives you large amount of health and therefore makes you live longer. A lot of people use this perk in servers and to be perfectly honest it bugs me. People who use the perk just to camp or rush camp. Then they think they’re really good because they have a high score. But this isn’t the case. They’re just running around with a lot health.

So what else is bad? Good question!! I will give you some things that I’ve seen in public servers. These things bug me extremely well and that’s because they’re so noob that anybody can do it.

1. Submachine Gun Noobs
Submachine gun noobs are quite common. Submachine gun noobs are people with submachine guns running around with a few perks. Submachine guns in call of duty 4 give you the maximum mobility. This means you can sprint longer than any other class and submachine gun users sometimes just knife in public servers. There’s nothing wrong with submachine guns or having high mobility. There’s not even anything wrong with knifing. But when people come into a public server and knife everybody from behind, they’re all of a sudden the best player in the server. And the big thing is they refuse to use their primary weapon. This is really really sad. Is it really that hard to use a primary gun? I don’t believe so. I’m tired of getting knifed from behind. However, the big thing is if we keep these guys around it could ruin lot of public servers. Now I’ve had this happen to me a few times. What do I do? I turned on the same perks and I did exactly the same thing they did. The perks they mainly use are juggernaut and extreme conditioning (which allows you to sprint longer). Now just imagine somebody running around the entire map constantly sprinting. You think it might get a little old, right? It does and very very quickly. So if you are a COD4 player, please do me a favor and do not do this.

2. Extreme Campers
I believe I made this phrase up but it could be already out there. This is when a sniper uses their UAV jammer perk or maybe they’d do something similar to the submachine gun noobs and run around knifing people. This, I’ve only seen a few times, and it is very annoying. Spend your perk slots on something better. Don’t waste your time and just help your team.

3. P90ers
This may go under the submachine gun category but then again it still a problem all by itself. People in public servers use a submachine gun called the P90. This submachine gun requires no aim. Just look at somebody and fire away at that’s all it takes. This gun is constantly used and if you’re a public server, watch out!! Running into a room automatically means death unless the person really sucks using a P90. Save the public server you play in and don’t use the P90.

4. Three Fragmentation Grenades.
Again, something else that submachine gun noobs use but, like the P90 issue, it’s a whole another problem all by itself. People constantly use this perk. To me, it is a useless perk and I don’t nade spam in public servers. The people that do are pretty bad. At the start of the game, people spam grenades over a certain area and get 3-5 kills with one nade. This can get really ugly. Especially when someone grenades a certain choke point. So don’t be noob and don’t use this perk.

5. Two RPG-7s
This perk gives you two rocket propelled grenades. I honestly see no point in spending this perk or even using this perk unless you really REALLY suck. Don’t use the damn perk and get good.

6. Martydrop
This perk allows you to drop a live the fragmentation grenade when you die. So if someone rushes in your room and attempts to knife people, they will probably die. Bad part is you might have other people in your room. So the martydrop and a whole bunch of people are room could mean disaster for you and your teammates.

Well there you go! Those are just some of the bad things that happen in public servers all the time. I’m sure people will complain about this post saying that submachine gun noobing is cool and awesome. Well buddy, you’re a special kind of asshole. However, if you think I was a little harsh or think these perks and ways of playing are cool, then go uninstall the game and play Halo for the PC. That’s what bad kids play.

This article was written before Monday, July 14 and therefore does not contain current E3 updates. More commentary on E3 revelations will follow. Sorry for the delay. We are kinda lazy. =P

Well E3 is coming up soon and I figured I might as well copy all the other gaming sites and announce the five top games that I am looking forward to the most. Unlike some gaming media websites who believe that another Guitar Hero with some updated graphics and billions of more songs to obsess with is something to get excited about (cough IGN cough), I believe that REAL games, not a DDR version for the hands, are the reason to get hyped up about E3. Now before the anticipation explodes into an array of trumpet blasts (sorry, I’m listening to Mars, the Bringer of War by Holst), here are my personal top games to look forward to at this year’s E3.

Final Fantasy XIII – Square Enix (PS3)

Even though I don’t have a PS3, this might as well be the best reason to get one. I’ve never gotten into the whole Metal Gear series and no other games in Sony’s current lineup interest me as much as this game. I admit, I’ve been a fan of Final Fantasy. I thought FFVIII had great gameplay, but the storyline got quite out of hand near the end. FFIX was paid homage to the old school days and was fun to play. FFX was just amazing, changing the formula but still managing to retain its old school roots. Ever since then, Final Fantasy as seem to wind down a bit. FFX-2 was a pure marketing cash-in. FFXI was an MMO (ugh) and FFXII just was too weird, with the new battle system and bleh story. The trailer than Square Enix released for FFXIII looked amazing, but they’ve been recycling the same trailer with a couple of seconds of new footage for each trailer release. Way to be lazy guys. I hope this E3 Square Enix will announce something epic related to FFXIII, or the other games they are developing for not only the PS3, but for the 360 and PC.

Fallout 3 – Bethesda Game Studios (X360, PS3, PC)

I’ll be dead honest with you. I have never played the previous two Fallouts. If you asked me before Fallout 3 was announced what Fallout was, I probably would have guessed a racing game. Since Bethesda Game Studios, my homeboys up in Maryland and mostly known for their work in the Elder Scroll series, are taking on the classical PC classic and adding a bit of Elder Scroll flavor to it. Fallout 3 is going to be huge, creating your own weapons, having up to 50,000 different endings, and other wild various unbelievable super-mega-awesome features. Fallout 3 could be another reason never to leave the house this year and hopefully we’ll see a new trailer or some gameplay footage this E3. On a side note, I heard Bethesda is making an MMO. If they can make the average human addicted to a single-player game, imagine what they will do with an MMO. The world might end. Literally.

Mirror’s Edge – EA / DICE (X360, PS3, PC)

This game has me so excited. I love games that attempt to revolutionize an old and beaten down genre. Now I know its EA. I hate EA as much as the next guy. They’re the super corporation that’s attempting to brainwash our minds into believing that this year’s Madden game is TOTALLY different from last year’s and is necessary to buy it to live. However, it seems as though EA is trying to change their image a bit. They’re sponsored a lot of more unique games that aren’t part of a series or franchise. Mirror’s Edge is just one of several games they have announced. If you haven’t seen the trailer, its almost mind-blowing. I go coo-coo for the whole utopian environment (I used to love 1984 before my transvestite English teacher killed it for me) and the new perspective and almost simplistic graphics could change our expectations for first-person shooters. Now, granted it is EA and DICE and therefore they could totally fuck it up. Not much has been released about this game at all and that actually gives me hope. If its secretive, it might be good. I don’t understand my logic either. Just try to comprehend with me.

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 – Valve Corporation (PC, ???)

WHERE IS IT?!?! WHERE IS IT!! I have never wanted a game to come out this badly. Valve is evil. They end off Episode 2 in a cliffhanger and don’t even give us a brief trailer like they did in Episode 1. I hate you Valve even though I did liked your Orange Box idea. I got the Orange Box for 25 bucks on Black Friday. Greatest deal I ever made, although getting two Dr. Peppers for the price of one comes in a close second. Doug Lombardi has cruelly announced that Episode 3 won’t be featured in this year’s E3, but a little boy can dream, can’t he? Instead, Valve will be showing off their multiplayer survival-horror zombie game Left 4 Dead, which looks phenomenal. Maybe Valve should come up with a package similar to the Orange Box, with Episode 3, Portal 2, and Left 4 Dead. Oh, and Natural Selection: Source. Man that would be sick. I’d call it… the Purple Box. Yeah, that’s what they should do. That wouldn’t be gay at all.

Spore – EA / Maxis (PC)

This game has been promoted for nearly three years and finally it is coming this year. The amount of interactivity of this game is incredible. The Spore Creature Creator has become a game of itself, now boasting its users have created over 1.8 million unique creatures (that’s more than known real species on Earth folks!). This game will be amazing without a doubt. Creating your own civilization from the tinniest molecule to the expanse of space. Whether you believe in evolution or not, this game will be entertaining and one of the many reasons to never go out and see the sun again.

That’s it folks! Oh whoa don’t freak out and yell at me. There are plenty of other games for E3. These are just five that I’m REALLY excited about. A man’s gotta cap it off an article sometime, right? Resistance 2, Banjo-Kazooie, Sonic Unleashed, inFamous, Prototype, DC Universe Online, the list goes on. I have never seen an E3 lineup of this epic proportions. Add all these games with rumors of a new Nintendo DS, new Sony PSP, price cuts, better Xbox Live / PSN / WiiConnect, and more. There is so much happening this E3, my brain can’t comprehend it. Tune into your favorite source of gaming news and make sure to keep in touch with CEREV for our (not so) professional thoughts on the Big Three (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) presentations and more.

Well, since our first post to today, we have officially gotten over 500 views. This is actually quite extraordinary, since we have been doing little to no promotion of this blog. Thanks for all the people who happened to randomly stumble on this little blog! Now for an important announcement…

WOOHOO! E3 is starting tomorrow (Monday, July 14) and honestly everyone here at CEREV cannot wait. After the amazing games that came out in 2007 and the beginning of 2008, and the tons of exciting new games that are going to be announced and updated at the convention, E3 08 might be the best E3 of them all. Unfortunately we are not a respected member of the gaming media and press (yet), nor do we have personal connections to any gaming companies. Therefore not invited to attend the actual convention. However, with IGN, Gamespot, G4, and other media outlets constantly updating our young feeble gaming minds on the latest of E3, we believe we can still provide you our expert opinions on the latest gaming news from E3 without breaking a sweat. Well, maybe we will sweat a little. Or a lot. Whatever.

Since version 2, there is one little program that all versions of Microsoft Windows have in common. No I’m not talking about MSPaint, silly, I’m talking about Notepad. I’m sure you’ve all used it at one point or another to jot down a phone number, e-mail address, or just copy/paste something you found online. Maybe some of you have even used it’s cousin WordPad to write an entire 5 page essay because you’re to poor to afford Microsoft Office. Either way – Notepad is a very nifty little tool. However, for those of you out there who get the joy of writing HTML, PHP, CSS, or any other web-related language, you’ll know how big of a pain it is to code in Notepad. For those of you who just want something cleaner, and overall better to write your 5 page essays in, you need not look any further.

I’m going to review Notepad++, a free open-source project which combines the simplicity of Notepad with the power of a full-featured IDE (integrated-development-environment).

Let’s get down to basics. Notepad++ is far from simple. Sure it has one row of buttons and a menu, compared to Notepads menu – and lack of buttons. True it starts with nothing but a blank frame (or your opened document(s)), just like Notepad; However, where Notepad++ differs, is in how many options it offers. Notepad has 23 options hidden within it’s menus. – Notepad++ on the other hand has too many to count. Seriously, I don’t know if I could count all the menu options without losing track at one point or another. Notepad++ has enough configuration options, and features, to keep you guessing for days as to what some of them do. Once you figure out what they all do, you certainly won’t be disappointed that there are no more surprises, just glad that you have an arsenal of features at your disposal.

For those of you who have programmed in PHP before, you will know how big a pain it is to keep track of nested if() statements. Sure knowing where to end 1 if() statement is easy, but when you’re programming rBBS and you have a 200 line monster of a class() and it has 3 while() loops nested in 2 if() statements, things start to get messy, almost as messy as that sentence! That’s why programmers indent of course, but indenting every line is a pain in the bum, what happens when you’re in that last while() loop, which is inherently 5 tabs in. That while() loop is 30 lines long, that was 150 times I hit the TAB key. Notepad++ however, indents your code automatically. If you’ve never indented your code, it has a handy “re-indent C Code” feature which will indent everything for you. If you’re religious about indenting it, it will keep you indented so that all your text is in line, until you hit shift-tab to drop back a level. In other words, that would’ve been three presses of the shift-button instead of 150.

Also, just like it keeps all your code neat and in line, it also keeps it clearly organized. Notepad++ supports syntax highlighting for 48 languages and you can add your own user-defined syntax highlight for any unsupported language. Syntax highlighting color coordinates different parts of your code. For example, in PHP, variables are highlighted in blue, quoted strings are silver, and function names are green. Making it easy to see what is what at a glance, it also makes it easy to spot where an error is in a quoted string. It’s also great for writing HTML code, because it will allow you to see where you’ve forgotten quotes, and it will let you see where you missed a closing bracket.

Overall, Notepad++ is a great replacement for Notepad. It has tons of options, even some features which you could only expect to find in a paid-for IDE, yet it still starts in mere miliseconds. Not to mention – when it starts it loads all your tabs (yes, tabbed-documents, just like your favorite browser) just as they were when you closed. I give it a 10/10 as a replacement for Notepad. However, as a development environment, I give it about an 8.5/10 – it’s just not as great as it could be. It is perfect for my needs – but it will never beat out software such as Adobe Dreamweaver. (This coming from someone who hates Dreamweaver with a passion.) Of course, with a pricetag of $0 – I’m willing to live without the “integrated” part of an IDE for my coding projects.

So if you program in PHP, Java, or write HTML, you simply MUST give this program a try.

Notepad++ – http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

Seriously, where should I begin? This movie was just so exhilarating and thrilling that I am almost unable to put this into words. I’ll start off with the star of the cast, Robert Downey Jr. Downey is just perfect for the role; honestly he makes it look easy. A lot of people were worried when they found out Downey got the role. But now after seeing the movie I just can’t see anyone else having it. He makes the character just absolutely believable. I see this as a great comeback for Downey after having a serious drug addiction. This film is sure to win him awards, and widespread acclaim. He is backed up by a wonderful cast of supporting actors that make the character of Tony Stark all the more real. They all have great chemistry onscreen and none of it feels unneeded.

The script is very well written. It’s evenly paced, smart, and sometimes witty. The little parts of humor are just icing on the cake. When Tony Stark pops those loaded one liners, you can’t help but laugh. The CGI effects used for all the iron suits were seamless and honestly at one point I thought it was all real. Director Jon Favreau outdid himself and did a great job of making this movie realistic. This is especially impressive coming from a director whose only film credits are directing Elf, Zathura, and Made in recent years. It really doesn’t have the feel of a comic book film, but more so as a military thriller. Also worth noting, the fight scenes were very well choreographed. I could’ve asked for a longer battle between Iron Monger and Iron Man, but what’s there is there and it’s great quality nonetheless.

Where would a movie stand without sound? It wouldn’t even make it up the first step. Iron Man’s musical score perfectly blends with the action and the tone of the film. Composed by Ramin Djawadi, the orchestrated rock tracks totally immerse the viewer in an action filled world. I enjoyed the score so much I bought it the day it was released.

I highly recommend this film and it deserves to be seen at least twice. The high reviews film critics are giving it are no fluke. This movie is just that good. Plus it’s refreshing to see a great Marvel Comics superhero movie after the disappointing Spiderman 3. It’s even more of a treat to see a movie of such great quality like this about a superhero that isn’t as well known as the likes of Spiderman, Superman, and Batman. I’m already counting down the days till the sequel in 2010. This will probably be the best superhero movie you’ll see this year.

“Truth is…I am Iron Man” – Tony Stark

-Travis Wood

There are good movies, bad movies, and great movies. And then there are the kind of movies that transcend the traditional categories of film and become more than just eight bucks at the local movie theater and an entertaining two hours. They become timeless works of art, expressing the issues that currently plague today’s society while providing a deep story, animated characters, and a breathtaking experience. WALL-E is a work of art that defines the current generation, but still manages to be a children’s movie.

That’s what WALL-E is at the core, a kiddie film. But Pixar Animation Studios manages to whip out their creative wands once again (it’s the ninth time folks!) to provide a darker theme than previous films. Pixar has always managed to entertain audiences of all ages by sneaking in dark and mature themes into the film’s kid-like atmosphere. FINDING NEMO had loss of a parent. THE INCREDIBLES had family troubles. However, WALL-E goes beyond the personal level to tackle on the global issues of pollution, obesity, and monopolizing corporations.

The film begins 700 years in the future. Mankind has abandoned Earth, leaving it polluted and trashed and flying off into the stars in an intergalactic cruise. Left to clean up the mess is our hero, WALL-E. He spends the day building massive towers of compiled trash, but his extensive time on the planet allowed him to develop a curious personality. However, being the last robot alive, he is understandably lonely and watching old clips of “Hello, Dolly!” on his video iPod doesn’t ease his sadness. The sudden arrival of EVE, a strong and aggressive robot, changes WALL-E’s life. Yet the story doesn’t end there and I am not going to reveal the rest. =)

The first half hour of the movie consists of no spoken dialogue and instead contains robotic sounds that somewhat resemble English dialogue. Concerned? There’s no need to be. These robots may not speak proper English, but are able to draw you in and make you care about them better than any human actor could. The design of the robots is ingenious. The lack of human physical qualities such as the mouth actually made the robots feel more human, rather than a cheap imitation of a human (a la C-3PO, though he was used mainly as comedic relief). The beeps and boops, designed by Ben Burtt (who you might remember from characters such as R2D2 and ET), coming from WALL-E and the female robotic soundboard, voiced by Elissa Knight, of EVE are able to create raw human emotions without voicing entire words. Once the audience encounters the humans in space, it’s shocking to see the amount of damage they have done to their bodies and only serves to further animate the personalities and characteristics of the main characters.

Even with the dark situation, WALL-E makes a great date movie (although you might want to avoid it if it’s the first date… your prospective girl might fall in love with the three foot tall robot instead of you). There were several couples littered around the theatre (and unfortunately a wonderfully unsubtle couple sitting right next to me) but it’s easy to ignore the rest of the audience with the powerful storytelling and overall movie magic Pixar creates. I could go into so much more detail about the camera angles that Pixar virtually creates and the human interactions with the robots. I could also find flaws, claiming this movie is too political or too dark. In the end, none of that matters. Pixar has created a masterpiece in WALL-E. Don’t listen to the critics and comments who claim that the movie is pushing an environmentalist agenda, or corrupting the youth. Those are the same people who are insane enough to drive one mile per gallon Hummers on cross-country trips with current gas prices. Few films are worth the money you spend at the theatre.
So ever since this blog was created, we’ve gotten over 3 views! WOW! Now imagine what we could accomplish when we ACTUALLY put content on this webpage! INCREDIBLE!

Alrighty. CEREV has been getting quite a slow start. No worries though. We have a movie review coming up of the recently released Pixar film WALL-E and more content. Once we get warmed up, we are hoping to release a new article about once a week or so, with some reviews, previews, random ranting, etc etc etc.

You might have some questions about this blog. It is a bit confusing since our format is slightly different from other blogs. No worries, I am here to answer!

Where did the name CEREV come from?

I (Sheel) and Bob did some reviews for a team called CE and called it simply CE Reviews. We just took out the “iews” and made CEREV, which sounds pretty cool in my honest opinion.

What’s your goal with this blog?

No goal really. Just reviewing stuff. I’ve always wanted to make a reviewing website ever since I was small (believe it or not, I’m not joking) and this blog format works perfectly.

Why should I read your reviews?

Although we aren’t the most educated of bunch (due to our young age of course), we tend to have a LOT of experience doing a lot of this stuff. All those reviews you see in the newspapers are old farts getting old, reminiscing the good old “Citizen Kane” days. We consider ourselves the new generation and will give you our honest, raw opinions of the latest and even older stuff.

Why six authors?

Six minds are better than one.

Where did you guys meet?

We’ve met through various online gaming escapades, communities, friends of friends, etc.

What’s cerevNET?

The blog is called CEREV and I thought it would be cool to refer to the six of us as cerevNET, like we are the network of this blog or something. It sounds really stupid now that I’m typing it, but we’ve gone to far to go back. Whenever we make an announcement as a whole, it will say “cerevNET announcement.” Also our email is CEREVNET@gmail.com. Email us your thoughts and questions!

What are the little pieces of text before your post?

Basically its a little something that shows you who actually wrote the post. It’s pretty obvious in its purpose and what it’s conveying. “The Sheel Thought” is a post written by me. “The Marcus Monologue” is something written by Marcus. The list goes on. We also are putting the text in the title of the post to show what exactly is the purpose of the post, whether its a rant, a review, or something else.

Is this website family friendly?

No. Go to the Disney Channel website if you want family friendly.

Well, I do believe that’s it! Enjoy the blog and keep checking out the site for new articles. Adios!
